Idealistic Rumblings

BAD HABITS

"Rafiki ya mwizi ni..........." Goes a proverbial Swahili saying, eluding to the fact that for you to know one's character, stand in position, point out his friends.
Finally, the day has dawned on the Kenyan political elite, who have from time in memorial nurtured a culture of impunity and sheer disregard for the sanctity of life, the prowess of reason, and natural laws of justice....until now, when the light at the end of the tunnel finally beckons.
It beats any logical reasoning as to how, our two principals and and their cronies can claim to be "white, saintly virgins", while their closest allies are tainted, covered in the blood of the countless Kenyans, who are baying for their heads, for a piece of them, from beyond the grave.
My deepest fear, is not for our pathetic, disputable comprado bourgeoisie, who can marshal billions in hiring the best defence that money can offer, but for the common mwananchi on the ground. The old mama who sells veggies on the comer, her kibanda no more, the 5 year old girl who on her way to school, was raped, the village pastor who watched, as his church, full of his flock, was razed to ash......
Both you and I, saw, heard, perceived and generally knew who was who and doing what.2007-2008 ignited our our ethnic lanterns, shinning murderous beams of hate, evoking a skewed paradigm, them or us, the killer and the to be killed. In bringing healing and sanity to our nation, I would have loved to see the International community, or better still, the Kenyan electorate, get rid of our whole crop of diseased "national" leaders, sadly, only 6 have a date with destiny.
This leaves me, and millions of Kenyans in a psychological abyss, asking the question, what about him? what about her? Following the horrifying period of anonymity, total lawlessness, we all saw those who did what. They were not aliens, dropping from the milky way, a far off galaxy, far from it! They were our neighbours, our classmates, workmates, our friends....what next? what do we do with this lot?
Surely, those crying foul, running amok, "Kenya is Sovereign"Kenya is a Republic" have had over 3 years to deal with these questions. One great Kenyan once told me ,"A fool never changes his mind ", maybe they've got a sudden change of heart, and their conscious has awaken from slaggered slumber, eon long of impunity and indifference.
If so, let them put on trial the remanding lot of Kenyans who killed, raped, burnt and brutally harmed fellow Kenyans, on Kenyan soil.Let them prove to the world, that Kenya is indeed a sovereign state, able and committed to clear and deal with its own mess, vanquish its own FILTH.Ndungu zanguni, kumbukeni kuwa, nyani haooni kundule..............oh, sorry, but ala! They themselves are the very said filth!!!!!''
Off The cuff
Reading my own post , 4 years latter on, I am not surprised that the things haven't quite changed. Politicians will be politicians, and the oppressed remain oppressed, if not to a greater extent some would argue.
My persona I would say has been refined by the flames of time, my eyes more open to vail & scorn that this world has to offer. Ambers of hope slowly extinguished with the realization that there is no tomorrow. There is today, now , here and a choice. For tomorrow brings with it new mysteries and what seemed the norm can dissipate in an instance...
